Four ways to keep track of posts on #
Hubzilla:
Saved Folders: While on your network page, hit the gear up in the upper left-hand corner by your icon. In the settings, make sure Saved Folders is ON. Now you can hit the gear dropdown menu at the bottom of any post or comment on your stream and select Save to Folder. This gives you a pop up box that lets you file that item to a named folder. It works like a private tag. Say you have a folder named "junk." And you want to view your junk. (Heh.) You can't see a nice orderly list of the folder's contents, instead you get all the things in the folder in your stream, in chronological order, like you've clicked on a tag. All the items you've saved to a folder will have a red tag at the bottom with the name of the folder and a nice x in case you want to remove it from that folder. "Saved Folders" shows up in the Stream Filters widget that is most likely on the left-hand side of your network page. Though it won't be there until you actually save something to a folder. You are the only one who can see what you've saved. This only works on content on your network page, not on individual posts or user channels, and you can't interact with the content in any way while viewing a saved post, you have to "view in context" before you can comment or even get a link to it. You can, however, star the post from there...which brings us to our next option.
Starred Posts: You can turn on the ability to star posts from that same dropdown gear menu. Select Conversation Tools and you'll find even more settings, like Star Posts. If this is enabled, "Starred Posts" shows up in the Stream Filters widget. You access this feature from a post's dropdown gear menu. If you star a post, a star shows up in the lower left-hand corner of the post. If you click on Starred Posts in the filter widget, the posts you've starred display in chronological order. You can easily unstar a post by just clicking on the star. Users aren't aware of your starring activities, so this is just another way to filter and save posts, though with less specificity, and it doesn't work with comments. But while viewing your starred posts, you can interact with them, just as if you'd encountered them on your stream, or on a user's channel. If you have the Alternate Stream Order option on (while on your network page, hit the gear in the upper left corner), you can also view them by comment date, or unthreaded.
Community Tagging: Also in that same Conversation Tools area is the Community Tagging option. This turns on your ability to tag other people's posts and comments. You access this ability from, once again, the dropdown gear menu on a post and select "add tag." It will create a blue tag at the bottom of the post that no one will ever be able to delete, the post or comment owner will know you've tagged it, and everyone who can see the post will be able to see your third-party tag.
Note: If you don't want other people tagging your posts, I believe you can turn off that side of it under Channel Settings > Security and Privacy Settings > Allow others to tag your posts > OFF; however, even with this off, users can still tag your comments.
Bookmarks App: Finally, the Bookmarks app. Install it, and it will create bookmarks for anything with a URL--on or off the instance. I find it incredibly clunky and tedious as you have to enter all the information yourself. You also can't edit a bookmark name or bookmark folder after you've made it, all you can do is delete it and start over. Though this app does sync up with the site's native ability to create a link that will automatically add itself to your bookmarks if you click on the bookmark icon next to it, which is promising. To create a bookmarkable link, simply add
#^
in front of any link in your post or comment. No one can view your bookmarks but you. You can share entire folders of bookmarks with friends by
attaching them to a post and having users install them into their own bookmarks, but the only way to make your bookmarks publicly viewable is to
create a menu that you then drop into the layout of your home channel or profile.
