Fascinating. I must admit - I went to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. Haiti is a special case anyhow, thanks to the long-lasting effects of the Western world "punishing" it for shaking off colonial rule. As an anthropology student, I was always aware that we were at best a bandaid. However, one good thing came out of it: we built relationships, mostly with our Creole teacher. He founded a school & today is doing great work - work that I can help with financially, from a distance.
