apologies for the off-topic post, I wanted to see if it was possible to cross-post to multiple forums at the same time, and if so, if the comments showed up on all versions like they do on a personal->forum crosspost. Could people leave comments saying where they're commenting from? If it's on a forum you should see "via forum-name" at the top of it; if there's no forum name, you're seeing the version that's going to my own channel. TY! I'll delete this within a couple days so it doesn't clutter up any archives.

I can see it from my @daphneblithe stream (I am subscribed to stucky faneorks), but oddly I can’t see it on the stream of @StuckyFanworks when I switch to that. I am commenting from @daphne

okay, It appeared in my stream as from you, but when I went to the forums directly the post was in all of them. But I don't think I got it three times in my stream, which is just as well?

It didn't appear on Stuckyfanworks or Audio&podfic. I'm not in the other comms you list but I inadvertently just tested this as well in asking about how to find communities. That post DID appear on Stuckyfanworks but not on Audiofic&podfic (but that one's odd and doesn't show in the Directory at all). It DID appear in Venomfanworks, but did not show on Hubzilla Help or Bugs&features. The post only showed once in my stream - it wasn't copied over from the other comms where it had appeared.

Okay, this is kinda weird. I can see it if I click on the first two links, it shows up fine in both channel streams; it doesn't show up in either stuckyfanworks or venom if I click the links. BUT. If I hover over those forum names in my own forum dropdown I get a "show posts from this forum" tooltip, and clicking that link shows me the posts in the forums.

So... I dunno? But clearly you can indeed crosspost to multiple places, and comments are shown in all the places, so if you have a podfic of a stucky story, say, you can post to stuckyworks and podfic and your own channel all at the same time. And they seem to appear in people's network streams, even if they don't always appear in the channel streams. Because magic is hard, I guess.

I think when @vamp (??) tested this the comments all appear everywhere, which is brilliant.

As such posting seems much more effective than re-sharing/reblogging in that it keeps the comments in one place.

It makes me think forums will be even more important for fan organizing thing in Hubzilla than usual.

As long as none of the places you're cross-posting has stringent posting rules that go against another forum's rules, you should totally be able to just make one post. This is what I've been wanting my whole online life.

it's seriously so good, isn't it @arduinna ? And it's so surprising, because the share functionality is the opposite, it's so cumbersome (at the moment :) and problematically duplicative. But the cross-posting to forums is ELEGANT!
